Apostille for diploma

An apostille for a diploma is often needed for studies, starting a job, professional qualification recognition or submitting documents to foreign educational institutions.

When preparing a diploma, it is important to understand whether the apostille is needed on the diploma itself, the diploma supplement, the transcript, a notarised copy or the translation. Foreign institutions' requirements can be very specific.

A diploma often also requires transcripts

For Apostille purposes, it is important to distinguish the diploma, diploma supplement, transcript and translation and determine which document the applicable procedure relates to. This is especially relevant for study or work abroad.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is an apostille needed on the diploma or the diploma supplement?

It depends on the requirements of the foreign institution. Sometimes both documents are needed.

Does the diploma translation need to be notarised?

Yes, if required by the institution where the document will be submitted. Otherwise, another type of certification may be sufficient.

Can the document be prepared urgently?

In some cases, yes, but the deadline must be assessed based on the document type and translation volume.

What is an Apostille?

An Apostille confirms the authenticity of a public document for use in countries applying the Hague Convention.

Can I send a document remotely?

Yes, a photo or PDF is enough for the first assessment, although the original may be required later.

Can apostille preparation be handled remotely?

Part of the preparation can start remotely after reviewing a photo or PDF of the document. If the original is required, we explain it before the next step.

Should translation or apostille be done first?

The correct order depends on the destination country and the receiving institution. We check whether apostille, translation, notary certification or legalisation should come first.

Can the diploma translation be prepared later?

Yes, but it's better to choose the order before starting, since in some countries the apostille must be placed before translation.
